Key Features to Look for in a Truck Reversing Camera Kit

A truck reversing camera kit will improve the safety of your vehicle and its manoeuvrability. As the size of trucks varies along with complexity, they can have blind spots which can only be covered effectively by reversing cameras.

When choosing a reverse camera for truck, you have to consider the resolution of the camera and image quality. There will be clearer images provided by high resolution cameras and this is critical when it comes to identifying obstacles. There has to be a minimum 720p HD resolution for the specification of the camera. To get sharp detailed images, you can select a 1080p Full HD resolution. You will be able to see finer details in the rear view when you select a good camera. This makes it much easier for you to spot other vehicles, pedestrians or potential hazards. There has to be a wide viewing angle as well because a large area behind the vehicle is covered by its bulk. The viewing angle has to be at least 120 degrees. You can also find wider angles that go up to 170 degrees and they will be able to give you a more comprehensive view. You can reduce blind spots this way so that you have a good perspective of what is behind the truck. You need to select a camera that provides a balanced field of view without distorting it too much. Too much distortion will affect your ability to judge distances correctly.

When you are reversing in low light conditions or at night

It can be particularly difficult. Therefore, you can look for night vision capabilities in the reversing camera kit. This should have infrared LEDs or any other night vision technology that is advanced. You will be able to see clear images even in darkness which can improve safety when you are reversing or parking in low light conditions. You can never tell what kind of weather you will run into so the reversing camera kit needs to be durable and weather resistant. You need to check whether the camera is rated for weather resistance. The IP rating has to be at least IP66 or higher. By choosing a robust camera, you can ensure that it is resistant against extreme temperatures, impact and vibrations.

Consider the size of the display screen

As this is the interface through which you see the camera feed. This needs to have a good quality. A larger screen is easier to deal with and you will be able to have a more detailed view as well. You will be able to see obstacles easily and be able to assess the situation at a glance. There has to be sufficient brightness and contrast levels for the screen so that it is visible even under varying lighting conditions. Some displays will not be properly visible in direct sunlight. Check how easy it is to install this. There are kits that come with flexible installation options such as those with a universal mounting system. There are also kits that have adjustable brackets.
